Great Weekend Take II

This was the center of the action for the contest, the commentators and judges have a birdeye view.  The green disc means that there are surfers in the water competing.  They compete in groups of four and are given 20 minutes to show their stuff.  The disc changes to yellow when there is 5 minutes remaining in the heat.

We splurged and rented a couple of front row beach chairs from
Omar (es mi amigo), who took great care of us for two days!  Just behind Omar is one of the tourist police hombres who, also enjoyed watching the surfers.

This little dude is Riggs Napoleon (age 13) from HI.
He gave the big guys a run for their money!

Tricky Helicopter!

Rory's future job!  Rory is smart enough to realize that the photographers get to go to all the cool surf spots (and even surf), but get paid better than the surfers.

SUP Racing.......

There were three distance SUP races and the competitors were men and women and of all ages and shapes.  Of course, the winner was 15 and an amazing athlete.

In this race, they had to make four laps around the course.  At each lap, they had to surf into the beach, jump off their boards, run 100 yards up the beach, turn around, run back to their boards, paddle back out through the surf for the next lap.

I love this series of pictures.   This, very fun to watch SUP-er, is spinning his board, he has fins first here......

Really fun to watch!

I know I took too many pictures, but it was so much fun.  So if this is getting boring, my apologies!

The four ladies in the background are the next heat waiting to surf.  Each surfer wears one of the four colors of surf shirts, so that they are easy to identify.

Second Place Women's Longboard Winner
She's only 14 years old.

Checkin' out the competition!
Are you still with me........????

Men's Longboard

The best thing about the event, was that there was much more going on, in and out of the water.

Stay tuned........
